8th International Choir Competition, Zadar

Governing Council of the International Choir Competition invites all amateur choirs - mixed, male, female - to participate in the International Choir Competition in Zadar from 17th to 20th of May 2012.

Competition is open to choirs consisting of amateur singers exclusively, on the basis of the Programme Commitee's acceptance of the application form and attachements. The competition is based on one-stage performance.

The choirs will compete in three categories: mixed (at least 16 singers), male or female (at least 12 singers).

Obligatory parts of choirs' programmes are:

1. One composition of a composer born in the 16th century or earlier

2. One composition of the contemporary choral expression

3. One composition from the choir's national repertoire of music production.

4. One or more compositions to the choir's choice

It is recommended that choirs sing at least one composition by a Croatian author. Duration of choir programmes is limited within the range of 15 minutes (minimum) to 25 minutes (maximum). All compositions are to be interpreted in the language of the original and a capella. Performances will be judged by an international jury made up from five to seven members who vote individually.Maximum score is 100 points for each single vote; the lowest score vote and the highest score vote being annulled.
